The prayers that make up the Rosary are arranged in groups of ten Ave-Marias, called decades. Each decade is preceded by a Lord's Prayer and followed by Glory. During the recitation of each set, the thought is given to one of the Mysteries of the Rosary, which recall the events in the life of Jesus and Mary. Five decades are recited by rosary. Other prayers are sometimes added before or after each decade. Rosary is an aid to say these prayers in the correct sequence.

The Rosary begins on the short side:

The sign of the cross on the Crucifix;

The prayer "O Lord, open my lips; O God, come to my aid; O Lord, hurry to help me", still at the Crucifix;

The Apostles' Creed, still in the Crucifix;

The Lord's Prayer in the first great account (for the Pope's intentions and the needs of the Church);

Ave Maria in each of the following three accounts (for the three theological virtues: faith, hope and charity);

The Glory Be on the next big bill.

The decades' prayer then follows, repeating this cycle for each mystery:

Ave Maria in each of the ten small adjacent beads;

Glory Be in space before the next big bill; and

Conclude:

The Mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on episodes of the life and death of Jesus from the Annunciation to the Ascension and beyond, known as the Mysteries of Joy (or Joy), the Mysteries of the Sorrowful and the Glorious Mysteries. Each of these Mysteries contemplates five different stages in the life of Christ.
