Paradise is an incorporated town in Butte County, in the northwest foothills of California's Central Valley, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Nestled along a tree-rich ridge in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Butte County, we have four distinct-yet-pleasant seasons that bring an abundance of wildflowers in spring, summer days perfect for waterskiing on the lake, a harvest of golden leaves each fall and crisp winter days occasionally highlighted by the sparkle of snow.
Paradise offers a variety of outdoor activities, including: hiking, fishing, mountain biking, gold panning, hunting and camping and back road adventures to old mining sites. Two nine-hole courses cater to the golfers and nearby Lime Saddle Marina on Lake Oroville offers house boating, waterskiing and jetski rentals.
Paradise has been continually ranked as one of the top retirement communities in the nation. The reasons for this include a rural, small town atmosphere that has many of the conveniences offered by larger cities. We have quality schools, affordable housing, a high level of public safety services, generally low crime rates, a parks and recreational facilities and programs, access to a educated labor, and close to Butte Community College and California State University, at Chico.
The Gold Nugget Museum and its many diverse programs honoring the history of these community and the larger Ridge area, play a central role in keeping our history alive for our community. There is also the Paradise Performing Arts Center, as well as Theatre on the Ridge Community Theatre.
