Choudhary Prahlad Singh Gillankhera was born on Nov, 12, 1954 in an affluent Jat family of village Gillankhera of Fatehabad (Haryana).

He was born as Grandson of Choudhary Gangaram Sinver (M.L.A, of First assembly of Joint Punjab,1952) got politics as inheritance, but he had to go through the hardship as he lost his father, Ch. Ramchander at the age of 9, his Mother (Smt. Hardwari devi) stood tall and raised him along with his 5 sisters.

Smt. Hardwari devi, his mother is the person from whom he got strength, wisdom and attitude of never giving up.

His younger days were largely spent at his maternal grandparent’s home at Bodiwali pitta, of ferozpur district of Punjab. After completing his secondary education, he was enrolled in DAV College, Abohar to pursue his graduation in Arts.

It is during his days at college, he began an inclination towards politics, Ch. Balram jakhar (Ex. Speaker of Loksabha) was a major influence as during 1970s he had began his political career in Abohar.

After graduating he shifted back home, i.e Gillankhera, and started his political career by getting elected as the member of Block Samiti, and later on becoming Chairman of Block Samiti, Fatehabad in 1984.

Ch. Bansilal (ex. Chief minister, Haryana) was a source of influence on him when he started politics in Haryana, he joined Haryana Vikas Party during its initial days and help positions like General Secretary of state and District president of Sirsa and Fatehabad, even contested Assembly elections from Darba Assembly of Sirsa in 1996 and 1999, and later contested a by-election from Fatehabad in 2003 on ticket of HVP.

After the merger of HVP in Indian national congress in 2004, he was denied of party ticket in Assemby elections of 2005 and 2009, but with support of party workers and belief in himself he contested 2009 Assembly election from Fatehabad as an independent candidate and won the election, was made Chief Parliamentary secretary of Government of Haryana in second term of Ch. Bhuinder singh Hooda as Chief minister of Haryana.
