Objective measurements prove that the consumption of plastic increases global warming and the pollution of oceans. Most people are aware of this environmental crisis but feel that they can do little to stop it. I developed Plastic Diet, an app that tracks individual use of plastic on a day-to-day basis. Users can track how much CO2 emissions and litter they are reducing from their everyday lives. The app compares the amount of CO2 emissions saved to the amount produced by countries like Nepal, Malta, Fiji, and Montenegro over the period of a year. This transforms what I like to think of as Problem Plastic into an individually empowering plastic and global warming solution.
