Astro Boy is a character figure in the manga series created by Osamu Tezuka whose real name is Mighty Atom (Tetsuwan Atomu) with its initial publication in 1952 to 1968. The Astro Boy series tells the story of a robot with a physical child about 13 years old on his way side by side with the human world in Metro City. Some good animated series include Astro Boy (2003) and Astro Boy Reboot which is the latest series.

The beginning of Astro Boy was created with the aim of substituting for the deceased child, Astro Boy (usually called Astro or Atom). Tenma who is the head of the science department as a substitute for Tobio, his son who died in an accident. Filled with a deep sense of sorrow, Dr. Tenma also exert all of its genius ability to make Astro with the physical equation resembles Tobio, and equip it with the latest technology that is second to none and has many advantages when compared with the robot in general.

With Tobio's cultivated memory at Astro, Dr. Tenma hopes that she can replace Tobio Tenma and erase her grief for losing her son. But gradually Dr. Umatarō Tenma realizes that this little robot can not replace the position of his son in his heart, even more that his physical remains the same and he can not grow into adults as children in general. Then, Dr. Tenma abandoned this innocent little robot.

I still remember the first time reading Astro Boy comics as a child, even though the comics are scarred and half the comics are gone. Somehow still remember how the story of Astro Boy that was very sad at that time. This robot is abandoned, but this little robot has something different from other robots that are made just to help humans. The different thing is that Astro Boy has the heart, he can feel and experience the feelings of human beings in general.

The Astro Boy series is not just about the action or the battle between the robots alone, but has more value that is the journey of robots that have this feeling to be coupled and accepted by other humans. With its cutting-edge design power, Astro Boy seeks to protect Metro City (ie the place where robots and humans co-exist) from all sorts of threats. But Astro Boy puts forward the approach of the heart when dealing with its opponents rather than using its power.

From the bottom of the heart Astro Boy wants to be loved by the family as humans in general. And the sorrows of Astro Boy gradually diminished when he met Professor Ochanomizu who was then the new head of the science department and began caring for Astro Boy with affection. He also created other robots as the Astro Boy family, one of them being Uran or Astro Girl as Astro Boy's sister.
