In Short

The esports realm has one gamut that almost challenges every other - the MOBA. The multiplayer online battle arena template, introduced originally through the Defence of the Ancients gameplay mode in Warcraft, has been a consistent cornerstone in the esports field along with real-time strategy games, combat-themed videos, and first-person shooter games.
With the international release of Honor of Kings impending, a hugely successful game in their home country, Tencent is preparing to launch a new esports partnership program with the objective of accelerating the international professional competition presence of HoK.
In January, Tencent pledged an investment of over $15m, with the recent revelations about the partner teams being Rex Regum Qeon, serving Southeast Asia, Isurus in Latin America, and Fut Esports in Türkiye. The partner teams allocated to Europe, Middle East, and North Africa are to be announced on June 11th and 12th, respectively.
Considering Tencent's significant investment, it's not startling that the company is making a huge push. Its rival and worldwide esports titan, League of Legends, has been an integral part of the global esports arena for over a decade, requiring significant monetary investments to even begin to compete with their dominance.
The partner program promises various benefits including priority for invites, promotional support, and much more, with the assurance that the program will expand and evolve over time. Critics may question the wisdom of imposing such growth on the competitive scene, however, Tencent's solid financial backing serves to strengthen its objective.
