Nearby Messenger uses the Nearby API to detect nearby devices. Both sending and receiving devices must have the Nearby Messenger app running and broadcasting to be able to see each other, and to be able to send and receive messages, photos or contacts.
The devices have to be connected to the internet and must be close to each other, such as in the same room or same household.
While the app is open, the app will constantly search for nearby devices, and broadcast your device as available for others to be discovered. Nearby API use of radios and sensors will cause this app to consume battery at 2.5-3.5 times the normal rate while running.
