About Korridor

English

Korridor is a board game with deceptively simple rules from which arise surprisingly complex tactics. Korridor is a turn based online game where you play against an opponent over the Internet through a game server. An Internet connection through WiFi, a mobile network or other means is necessary to play. You can have max 20 games in the game list. Won games are removed after 24 hours and non-active games after 72 hours to make room for new games.

There are likely to be remaining bugs and some functionality is still not implemented, see below.

Game rules (short)

Korridor is a 9x9 board game for two players. Each player has a pawn that begins at one side of the board, and the objective of the game is to move your pawn to the opposite side of the board. The twist on this simple goal is that each player has ten fences that they can place on the board to hinder the other player’s progress or protect their own pawn. A pawn is moved by common drag and drop. A new fence is added by long-press, and may then be moved by drag and drop or rotated. A move is finalized or canceled by choosing the corresponding menu alternative. Double tap zooms or un-zooms the game pad.

Further game details

Each player has a pawn that begins the game in the middle of opposing edges of the board. A player wins when his/her pawn has reached any square of the opposite edge of the board from which it started. On a player’s turn, the player can either move his/her pawn one square in a cardinal direction, or place one fence. Each player begins the game with ten fences. These fences can be placed anywhere on the board, with certain restrictions, to hinder the opponent or help yourself. A pawn cannot move through a fence. Fences must be placed between two sets of two squares horizontally or vertically and cannot intersect an existing fence. Also, a fence cannot be placed that completely blocks a player’s access to his/her goal. If the two pawns are adjacent to each other with no fence between them, the player whose turn it is can jump his/her pawn over the opponent’s pawn. This jump must be in a straight line, unless a fence is behind the other pawn, in which case the jump must be diagonal. Edges of the board are treated similarly to fences for jumping.

Korridor status

- The app may contain remaining bugs and some functionality is still not implemented, see below.

- Preventing a player from placing fences that completely prevents the opponent from reaching his/hers goal line is yet not implemented.

- The case when two pawns face each other on neighboring squares and there is a fence behind the opponent's pawn is yet not implemented (the player should be able to place his/hers pawn to the left or the right of the other pawn).

- Moving a pawn around and then placing it at the original position is currently seen as a move.

- Accidentally interpretating a panning gesture as a long-press must be improved.

- Images need to be present in different resolutions.

- Game list appearance need to be improved.

- A chat function could be implemented in the play game view.
