Kindness Pays Back
Once upon a time there lived a big group of mice in the jungle. They had got proper food, water and shelter there. They were happy and had peaceful living.
One day a group of elephants came in the jungle in search of food and water. They were many in number. They found plenty of food and water for them in the jungle.
While going to have food and water they took the same route every day and they used to come across the place where the group of mice lived.
Elephants used to be in a hurry and the mice were so small that the elephants walked over them without noticing them. The mice used to get hurt because of this.
One day the king of mice said, “Many of us get hurt every day because the elephants walk over us. It is the high time now. I will talk to their king tomorrow and ask for mercy.” Everyone agreed.
The next day when the group of elephants arrived to the mice’s place, the king of mice stopped them and said, “O king of elephants! Your group walks over us while passing from this place. We got hurt because of this.”
He continued, “Please have mercy on us and change your route. We will be highly obliged.” The king of elephants said, “Oh king of mice! We did not know that we hurt you. I am so sorry for this. We will change our route from tomorrow.”
The King of mice thanked the elephants again. All the mice stood away from the elephants and cleared their way to let them go.
The elephants changed their way and now the mice were happy. They did their regular routine without any terror and tension. Everything went well.
One day a few hunters came in the jungle to catch the elephants. They threw the traps. The elephants did not notice the traps and caught.
The elephants put their whole strength to get rid of the traps but in vain. The traps were made up of thick ropes and they were unable to get out of them.
The elephants got tired of struggling; suddenly a mouse saw the trapped elephants when he was passing by. He hurried to the king of elephants and asked what happened.
The king told him the whole story how they got caught. The mouse had pity on them. He assured the king that he would soon come back with his friends to help them.
The mouse hurried to the king and told him that the elephants were caught in the traps. The king said, “We should go and help the elephants.”
The king of mice announced, “The time has come to repay for the kindness of the elephants. Let us go and help them.” He ordered all the mice to gather and come with him for the help of the elephants.
The whole group of mice reached to the place where the elephants were trapped. The king of mice said to the king of elephants, “Don’t worry friend, we mice have sharp teeth. We will soon cut the traps and you will be free forever.”
The elephants got happy to hear the words of assurance. The king of mice ordered his people to cut the ropes. The mice started to cut the ropes with their sharp teeth.
Soon the mice cut the traps and made the elephants able to get out of it. The elephants came out of the traps happily and thanked the mice for their great help. The little mice were very happy to help the elephants.
The king of elephants thanked the king of mice and his people again for their help. The moral of the story is “kindness always pays back.”
