A-Tutor; THE AQUACULTURE APP FOR THE GHANAIAN FISH FARMER

A-Tutor is an app that provides information on the dynamics of an aquaculture setup both as a science

and a business. This application concisely provides the requisite information required to not only

manage the fish farm as a business but the much needed scientific information to start and grow the fish

farm in Ghana.

The application is divided into four main subdivisions namely;

Aquaculture Business Management; Provides information on the economic information needed to start,

sustain and grow aquaculture as a business.

Pond Construction and Management; Provides information on the basic requirements for constructing a

pond and the scientific information needed to maintain the artificial aquatic environment created to

house the fish.

Fish Stock Management; Provides information on the dynamics of the fish with respect to their life

cycles. It provides concise information on how to introduce fingerlings and help them to grow till

harvestable sizes. It also touches on diseases that may affect fish in the ponds.

Post-Harvest Technologies; Provides information on how to safely and properly harvest fish as well as

the importance of some post treatments on the fish in order to add more value to the fish product and

to diversify the aquaculture business as well.

The application is geared at any persons (especially Ghanaians) interested in entering the aquaculture

sector.

A-Tutor has a ‘Production Calculator’ which helps farmers in structuring their production with regards to

how many fingerlings they would need, ponds and feed based on their production target, target size and

the feed conversion ratio of their feed.
