Tiny trees done up in retro-chic shades of pink and green sprout quickly from foam cones pretty papers and lots and lots of glitter. Glam it up!

Materials

STYROFOAM Brand Foam

Balls, 2", two

Cones, 6" x 3", two

Other Materials

Acrylic paint: white

Glitter spray: silver or multi-color

Solid-color paper, 12" x 12", two sheets

Thin wooden dowel

Glitter glue, fine-tip bottles: pink; green

Ultrafine loose glitter: pink; green; silver; irid

Pink/green ribbon (tree on right only)

Small wooden balls or beads (several dozen

for tree on left; one for tree on right)

Tools

Pencil

Ruler

Medium flat paintbrush

Disposable palette

Small disposable bowls, one per loose glitter colo

Water basin

Paper towels

Heavy-duty scissors

Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks

Thick, white craft glue

Spray adhesive

Laminate paper glue

Waxed paper

Instructions

1. Cut pattern as indicated for each tree; cut bottom curved

edge into scallop or other decorative shape, if desired. Wrap

and glue paper around foam cone; hold paper in place until glue dries.

2. Line work surface with waxed paper. Spray paper-covered

cones with adhesive and sprinkle with loose glitter; let dry.

Repeat as needed to achieve desired level of coverage. Let dry.

3. For tree shown left, pour small amount of laminating glue

into bowl. Pour each color of loose glitter into a separate

bowl. Dip balls/beads into glue and gently shake off excess.

Holding ball or bead over waxed paper, sprinkle with desired

shade of glitter. Repeat until all balls/beads are glittered,

dividing evenly among glitter colors. Let dry completely.

4. For tree shown right, glue ribbon lengths down sides of

cone from tip to base. Highlight ribbon edges and bottom of

cone with glitter glues; let dry.

5. Use heavy-duty scissors to cut two 8" lengths from dowel

rod. Place foam balls on clean floor and step on them to

flatten into doughnut-shaped bases. Paint dowels and foam

bases white; while wet, sprinkle with loose glitter. Shake off

excess glitter and let dry.

6. Use glue gun to glue one glittered ball to top of ribbon

tree; glue remaining balls randomly over surface of plain

tree. Glue dowel ends into tops of bases and bottoms of trees.

7. Spray entire design with glitter spray paint; let dry.

8. Repeat construction of tree. Adhere decorative ribbons to

tree vertically. Accent ribbons by adding glitter glues to

the edges of ribbons. Glue glittered ball to the top of the tree.
