Happy Valentine’s day, everyone! I hope you have a fantastic day. I know this post is too late for Valentine’s day this year (unless you have a fun party tonight), but I had to share this cute Valentine hair tutorial. I used it on two of my kiddos this morning, and it took ten minutes or less for each girl. (If you’ve ever done a little girl’s hair . . . that’s quick!
Cute and Clever Valentine Hair for Girls
Here’s how it’s done:
Part the hair on the side and section it into two small ponytails on the side. Pull the extra hair back to keep it out of the way. DO NOT make the ponytails very tight. You’ll see why in the next step. Add some mousse to the sections of hair to keep it looking neat. (I added mousse to one style and not the other. I think you’ll be able to tell which is which! One style is quite messy, while the other looks nice and neat.)
Starting from the part, use your fingers or a comb to split one pony tail (above the hair band) into two parts. Flip the ponytail under and up (through the part you just created) toward the top of the head. (This is the opposite of the way you would normally flip through for other styles.)
I have to add a disclaimer here. In the picture on the left, you’ll notice a bobby pin. That is because I made a mistake when I twisted her hair. I corrected it, but I forgot to take a picture! So, ignore the bobby pin. You won’t need it if you follow the instructions. (Can you tell this is the non-moussed head?)
Beginning with the back ponytail, divide the hair into two equal sections and hold one section in each hand. Twist the hair in both hands toward the outside.(This is where mousse helps the hair stay neat.) Shape the strands into a heart and fasten the bottom with a hair band.
Do the same with the second ponytail with the following change. Have your child hold the front strand while you twist the back strand and tuck it under the back heart. Twist the front strand, shape the two strands into a heart, and fasten the bottom with a hair band.
Curl the ends if you have time, or just leave it straight
