Established in 1839, Clarion County was carved out of Armstrong and Venango Counties. Named for the Clarion River, the town of Clarion became the county seat and by 1841, established a borough with a population of 741 residents. Today, the current population is over 6000. It has a bustling business district, a beautiful scenic river,is the home of Clarion University, has numerous employment opportunities, and has a safe and friendly community with lots of activities throughout the year. Known for its Autumn Leaf Festival, Clarion is a popular place for alumni, friends and family.
