The description of How's My Network (HMN)
How's My Network (HMN) Mobile App is a tool to help home network users understand the benefits in and around Home Networking. The How's My Network App is a tool that you can use to help determine devices on your Home Network, Privacy and Security or the Apps running on your Android device, speed of your Wifi and Internet, and as a bonus we have added a comparison summary to compare your Home Network and Android device to others using the How's My Network App.
We ask that you run a new scan once (or more a day) and answer all questions as this will be helpful for us in our research, Thank you again
The following is a short description and a list of features included as part of this app
As part of the HMN APP we have created several areas of focus, including:
The HMN App will scan your network for devices, Apps, and report changes via notifications. Scans are setup to operate only on your HN (configured by initial setup selection) and will report updates ~ ever 15 minutes. As part of the HMN app we will pop-up questions only after you run a new update, and once a day in the evening.
Specifics about each tab operation include the following:
Network List Tab: Scan for devices that exist on your Home Network, items on this tab include:
Image of the Device type detected (e.g. iPhone)
Device Name and IP Address (a numerical number Assigned to each device connected to your Home Network, like a phone number)
Clicking on the name of the device will show information such as: Last time device was found, MAC address, and Wifi connected to.
You can enter a Nickname for the device in the popup window, to go back to the found name just click "Add new Nickname" with empty text
Apps / Security Tab (privacy and security): Scan your device and create a fingerprint when things change, such as Apps and permissions
A list of all user Apps installed on your device
The Apps are Color coded by security and privacy level:
Green - Safe
Yellow - Caution (some permissions used may have privacy/security concerns),
Red - Danger (App is using permissions that are directly related to security/privacy of your device [e.g. tracking, access to camera, etc.])

Clicking on the arrow will open the list of permissions per App. Long-clicking on the Appname will open the App settings on the Device
