The Winter 2016 Highlight Experience is located in Geneva Switzerland. This AR installation titled "Digital Neuron" is hosted on the plaza wall of the brand new University Medical Centre extension (CMU 5-6) and is located between Champel avenue, Lombard and Sautter streets, opposite the Geneva University Hospital (HUG).
The mural in Geneva tells the story of the neuron’s central importance in human cognition and as the deeper engine of medical research. An electrically excitable cell that processes and transmits information, neurons are the core components of the brain, spinal cord, the central nervous system, and a visual metaphor for the connectivity required within academia between modern research pursuits and the older technological antecedents that are their forebears. While the mural presents an empty laboratory with a static neuron compositionally centered, in augmented reality the room fills with books and technological research equipment, both old and new, brought forth by a now animated and electronically living neuron. The laboratory is both a physical room and a metaphorical brain with both the right and left halves activated by the thinking neuron surrounded by the tools of vigorous research.
