After the collapse of USSR in 1991, communism as an ideology also collapsed. Supporters of capitalism claimed that their ideology had been proven correct and that it was the best system for the mankind. The reality is totally the opposite. Apart from the very rich 1%, capitalism is a disaster not only for humanity but also for our planet. In America, the greatest champion of capitalism, the bottom 80% of the population has only 11.1% wealth while the top 1% has hoarded 35.4% of the wealth. The question is then what is the alternative? Our conviction is that Islam is the only alternative. This is not only our conviction but desire of overwhelming majority of Pakistanis as clearly pointed out in a recent survey (http://www.pewglobal.org/2016/04/27/the-divide-over-islam-and-national-laws-in-the-muslim-world/how-much-should-the-quran-influence-our-countrys-laws/) conducted by PEW. In this survey 78% of Pakistanis said “Laws of our country should Strictly Follow the teachings of Quran.”. Unfortunately the opponents of Islamic Economic System, point to the fact that it is not being practiced anywhere in the world today. Fair Economic World (FEW) is an attempt to create a virtual world in which the principles of Islamic Economic System are practiced.
FEW will have multiple benefits. The immediate two are: 1) many of our youngsters play useless games like Simcity, Civilization etc. It will introduce people, especially our young people, to economic principles of Islam. 2) It can generate data (albeit simulated/game data) about how an economic system based on principals of Islam will work, what will be the distribution of wealth, how will businesses operate in such a system etc. Anyone who has ever played Simcity or any such game can appreciate that it is huge undertaking. It is a very large project and as such will require many people and a few years to fully develop.
