WOMAD: World of Music, Arts and Dance is an internationally established festival, which has brought together artists from all over the globe over the years.

As one of the longest-running and best-established cultural festivals on the planet, the central aim of the WOMAD festival is to celebrate the world's many forms of music, arts and dance.

WOMAD NZ 2022 sees the 17th anniversary of the festival, held at the stunning TSB Bowl of Brooklands and Brooklands Park, New Plymouth, Taranaki, from 18-20 March.

WOMAD NZ 2022 is one of the hottest tickets on the festival calendar, with eight stages featuring an eclectic and cross-cultural lineup bursting with talented musicians, speakers, internationally renowned poets and authors.

The global village is brimming with food and flavours from around the world, wellness, retail, and of course, the incredible festival vibe that's family orientated in one of New Zealand's most spectacular festival venues.

WOMAD NZ has introduced audiences to eclectic artists, including Arrested Development, Alpha Blondy & the Solar System, Gurrumul, Gotan Project, Hanggai, Lemon Bucket Orchestra, Mahotella Queens, DakhaBrakha, Ezra Collective, Sinead O'Connor, De La Soul, and hundreds more.

Peter Gabriel was one of WOMAD's co-founders: "Pure enthusiasm for music from around the world led us to the idea of WOMAD in 1980 and thus to the first WOMAD festival in 1982. The festivals have always been wonderful and unique occasions and have successfully introduced an international audience to many talented artists."

Since the first festival in the UK in 1982, WOMAD has held more than 160 festivals, creating events in twenty-seven countries and islands all over the world, including Abu Dhabi, Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Portugal, Sardinia, Sicily, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, UK, and the United States of America.
