UFeels suggests random feelings, so that you could choose the one that is closest to what you feel and over the time your preferences will shift these choices towards what you may really feel, instead of just always “fine”.

UFeels allows you to contribute with your data to the research about how people feel, while making it fun and social.

You can also use non-random, private and offline mode with an in-app purchase.

Why random? Free choice from a list could result in always the same socially accepted popular answers like happy, fine or cool and give less chance to find more about yourself or others.

Why few choices? Too few choices could make it too difficult to choose from, because there could be two feelings you really don’t feel, but too many choices could always have the same answer you prefer.

Why no popular categorization? Categorizing feelings by bad, sad or happy might not be the best idea, because one might sometimes feel positive when furious and negative when calm. Because it would be still interesting to group the feelings in categories, UFeels did categorize them into two groups of social and productive.

How UFeels categorize feelings? Social score is calculated counting how many unique people on the internet, but not their products are associated with each feeling. Productive score is calculated by counting how many products including websites and photos are associated with those feelings.

Why so many similar feelings? Feeling what you feel is different from feeling what others feel (calm, calmness). You might actually still feel it, but it could be that you feel concerned about the anger around you. That might also be confusing, but a lot of feelings like this were added in UFeels.

Why there are missing feelings? Physical condition feelings like hungry were left out, because it becomes more and more unclear what is a feeling. Same with appearance feelings like fabulous, which some people might say they feel, while they actually just look like it.

UFeels does not say that missing feelings are not feelings. UFeels still needs to improve, add, remove and categorize feelings with better research.

UFeels and your data

If you use free version of UFeels "online and random" mode, your data will be contributed to the bigger pool, which will be used to find more about how people feel around the world.

None of your UFeels collected data reveals your identity, because it consists only of the feeling you took, time and location if you enabled it and just from these it is difficult to identify who felt these.

UFeels can be used offline, private, without randomness if you disable "online and random" in advanced settings that can be enabled with in-app purchase. That way your data will not be uploaded anywhere. You can also disable saving location and never take a picture or share your data.
