We researched and analyzed the feasibility of multiple propulsion systems on Mars. Low oxygen and atmospheric density made it a challenge to use conventional jet pack technologies. We wanted a system that would take advantage of naturally abundant resources that can be locally sourced and refined. We found the Wickman Mars Turbojet design to be the most feasible in this environment as it is powered by powered metals (readily available on Mars) and Carbon Dioxide (which is very abundant in Mars's atmosphere).
We built a Unity simulation that uses actual topography data from Mars as well as realistic gravity and atmospheric conditions. Our simulation is available as an Android application that uses Google Cardboard for viewing. This makes it possible for anyone to experience exploration of Mars in their own home.
