A railway line connecting Najangud (near Mysore) with Nilambur via Wayanad is the long pending aspiration of the people of Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka. This 236 K.M railway line passing through Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Wayanad, the Nilgiris and Malappuram districts would connect 3 states and lead to the comprehensive development of this region. This railway would give enormous development opportunities especially to the backward, tribal districts of Wayanad and the Nilgiris, which are geographically detached by ghat sections from their mother states and lacking travel facilities.
