Scandinavian Developer Conference continues to be the premier event for software developers in Göteborg, and my track chairs and I are proud to present a full programme of talks, debates and tutorials for 2013. I’m particularly looking forward to listening to our two keynote speakers talking about their experiences delivering software, in a modern, lean and agile way. Dan North is well known for his work with Behaviour Driven Development, and Janice Fraser has made a name for herself in Lean Usability, working with Silicon Valley startups.

This year we’ve again broadened the conference to cover different kinds of development platforms. We have a new track for C and C++ developers, and several sessions taking up issues with embedded programming. We’re continuing with the new tracks from last year on Usability and Product Management, and I think we again have a very strong line-up of speakers addressing leadership, team and management issues.

We’ve reintroduced a track on cross-platform developer effectiveness, which, like the architecture track, has new ideas and advice on challenges that affect developers using all kinds of software platforms.

Developers coding on all kinds of platforms will find plenty of technical sessions too. My diverse team of track chairs has chosen themes and speakers from all around the world. Developers with .Net, Java and IBMi platforms, big data and distributed systems, mobile applications and javascript will again find plenty of interesting content at the conference this year. Not forgetting testers, either, who again have a track of their own.

The third day of the conference is devoted to in-depth training with some high-profile industry experts. All are respected authors and speakers with long experience and innovative ideas, and this is a rare chance to learn from them in a smaller group.

Scandinavian Developer Conference has a broad programme designed so that you can bring your whole development team, and everyone will find something of interest. Our goal is that you’ll come back to your daily development work with renewed vigour, inspired and with plenty of new ideas to try out. I hope we’ll see you at SDC2013!
