This app is a re-imagining of the "Athol History Trail" booklet created by the Athol Bicentennial Commission in 1975. Today in 2015 - 40 years later - you can explore this interactive digital guide to the past from your smartphone or tablet.
From the booklet:
"Every town holds its fascination for all who look close enough. Each has its own story of how it came to be and where it is heading. These signs tell some of the episodes in the story of Athol, Massachusetts. Our hometown glimpses make up the bigger picture of America.
"The Athol Bicentennial Commission undertook the "Athol History Trail" project in 1975-1976 in the belief that the more one knows a town, the more he or she is likely to appreciate it and do things for it.
"Most of these sites are on private property so please respect them and do not trespass."
