Answering the most important question: "What day is today? Thursday?"... the date is not of interest. "Thursday...so I will go to the club, this evening to the Bridge club."
Structure to the day, the week. Simple administration is of most importance, so that people with dementia can understand what is shown on the agenda.
WiT is also an app to share this structure with others, the own partner, the care taker but also with neighbours taking care of the oldster.
The week agenda is the basis of the app. Weekly occurring recollections are stored here. Day of the week, time and description are the most important data that are stored. Moreover an icon is selected, symbolising the selected item. Optionally both a visual and acoustic warning is displayed.
In addition to the agenda an important component is the chat function, providing an easy communication with family and/or care takers.
An alarm function is built in that sends an automated email or establishes a Skype connection. Just pressing the red button activates the primary predefined connection. Dementia should not be a limiting factor for using this agenda. Oldster should be able to manage this agenda with the assistance of predefined agenda entries.
Finally there is an integration with the Google agenda built in. Relevant appointments can be exchanged automatically between the WiT agenda and the Google agenda of the user. When the Google agenda is shared with the Google agenda of family, appointments can easily be tuned up without the need to use this app themselves.
